Snowsuit...Just like "Christmas Story"
Vienna was bundled in her snowsuit so Daddy and Mommy could go for a run in the snow. Poor thing, she couldn't move the whole time.

Low and Behold, We are Alive!!!
So, I know that the holiday season is ALWAYS immensely busy (hence the lack of an update since Thanksgiving) but man-o-man!!!
Let's start where we left off...Mike finished his first semester of dental school on Dec 10th and did great! Peggy and Alan flew here for a visit on the 10th and stayed until the 16th. It was so great to share our new abode with them, as only Alan had seen it for 2 days when we moved here. We love our little home and love that our guests actually have space to themselves, unlike our little place in Boise. Peg absolutely LOVES Christmas and we reap the benefits of this, especially now that we have Vienna. She was smothered with presents (so I might take the advice from a few other friends and save some to wrap up for b-day presents...what can I say, we're poor.) We had our own Christmas morning with them, which is when Mike and I did our Christmas to each other. We decided to make gifts for each other this year, and I was SOOOOOO anxious to give him mine and I started working on it in early October. Without Mike knowing, I learned how to knit and made him a KU scarf. Oh it was a project but it was so fun and I learned a new skill, which was very rewarding. We are going to do this every year. Mike was very observant and made me a "Please Remove Your Shoes" sign with a cute pic of Vienna with no shoes on. I LOVE IT!!!
He even used modge podge and got his buddy Riley's wife to cricut him the words. (How adorable) For my posterity, especially my daughter(s), do your best to find a husband like your Dad, he is the best :)
A day after Peg and Alan left, we flew to Calgary for Christmas. My folks surprised us with flights and all my siblings sacrificed their presents to have us there. How sweet even if its only because of Vienna, lets be honest. Either way, we still got the benefits. It was great to be there with everyone. We got to meet Dane's girlfriend, Sarah. This was very special because it was getting to THAT point, you know the 'M' point and by the time we left she was basically his fiance. We think she is just perfect for Dane and are so excited to have her in the family.
Some of the traditions stayed the same (Watt's Christmas Party, C-mas Eve PJ's, Our Teach the Children Story etc) some new ones were done (ugly Christmas sweater/attire contest, Turkey Dinner on Boxing Day, No pageant) we had a great time! Christmas was lots of fun because we had a $10 limit for everyone, which is the first (usually we just drew one name. I really liked this and we got some sweet deals at the Outlets in Aurora. Vienna got an I-pood Onesie from her Uncle Dane, she got Green Eggs and Ham from Auntie Lanae, some slippers and Canada Onesie/hat/bib from her auntie Chubbs, and lots of goodies from Mema & Papa.
The O's and Grandma Betty came over for games, which was energetic, as usual.
The most interesting part was that when we got to the airport in Cleveland the agent asked for Vienna's passport and we were like "What????" to make a long story short,
we made it to Canada, barely, but the catch was, we would not be aloud back to the US unless we got a US passport for her. Of course this means PANIC...for a minute, then it was contacting the US Consulate, getting all the necessary documents and lots of time downtown. It was a bit of a mess, but we got it all taken care of. Phewwww!
The next event was the flight home. Vienna woke up that morning with a fever, she was hot, cuddly and tired (which wasn't bad for traveling, we couldn't find any tylenol) We were also delayed 5 1/2hrs so that made everything and everyone just peachy. The next day (Dec 31st) she seemed fine in the morning but in the afternoon her fever returned and by evening she was a furnace. We called the nurse and she recommended we take her in so at 10pm on New Years Eve we went to Rainbow Babies ER Hospital. To our dismay she wasn't showing the tell tale signs of the usuals...ear ache, pneumonia, bad cold etc. so that meant more tests. She had to be catheterized, and blood had to be drawn so she needed an IV. It was AWFUL!!! She was exhausted, and in pain. As I am writing now, she still has the bruise in her little hand (2 weeks later) All the tests came back normal, which means we got sent home and they chalked it up to a virus. Needless to say we got home at 1am, which means we spent our New Years at the ER with our little lady. At least we had no plans except recovering from our travels. All I can say is poor little lady :(
With all this, there is still more...I had a Birthday on the 11th and I turned 28. It was a special day. Mike surprised me with a day off of school and he took me to this beautiful Greenhouse and to the Art Museum. It was so much fun to have him with me and Vienna all day. We also got to eat all-you-can-eat sushi for only $9. We did have to drive to timbucktoo in the lake effect snow but it was worth it!!!
I think we are all caught up!
