December 2009, just the beginning!

Since December 1st life has truly whirled right by...
So out of the acceptances we recieved, and even though we are on waitlists at other schools we have decided,or Mike has decided that Cleveland, Ohio (Case Western Reserve University). That is where we are headed. Wowsers!!! I don't know a thing about that area, but that is what makes it such an adventure! We will stay in Boise until Mike graduates in May and then we will head up to Calgary for about 2 months where I will work as much as possible with a new little baby, that is nursing, I might add while Mike is a stat at home dad. This will go on until mid-July which is when we will then make the trek to Ohio. We are excited and are looking into buying a home...but we will see. We have decided that the military will not work out for us but in a way we are excited about this, although it will mean a TON!!! and I mean a TON of debt. Thats ok, you just do what you gotta do.

So the New Year will consist of getting my dental hygiene license in Ohio, research about buying vs. renting and all of that good stuff! Of course we still have 9 more days until Christmas and 16 until it is 2010 and so we are just going to just sit back, relax and enjoy! Mike gets to have a whole month off of school which we are blessed to have him working at the school over that time doing research and being paid for it!!! Then he might get a job on campus for his last semester. Every little bit helps!

Just to catch up on the past 2 weeks briefly...to celebrate our acceptance, as this has been a work in progress for 3.5 years now, we went to the Melting Pot. It is a fondue restaurant for those that don't know. Now it is a bit pricy but we had been planning this for over a year, so we didn't care. We enjoyed and savoured every last morsal. I have a pic to show just how delish it was. That same weekend Mike took me on a surprise date. It on a real, old schol train ride up in Horseshoe bend that goes to Cascade. It was marvelous. We were on the polar express that took us up to Santa's village and it was decorated very well. There were carolers and hot chocolate, cookies and lots of cute kids. It was a great time to just hang out and be kids. I loved it. Thanks so much hun! To top it all off we had our ward Christmas party right after and the best part was watching the kids start crying as we put them on Santa's knee. It was great!

The rest of December has been spent wrapping gifts, doing last minute Christmas shopping and getting ready for our journey up to Calgs! We are excited to be with family over the holiday season.

Here are some pics...

Jack on Santa's knee, crying with a candy cane in his mouth! too funny!

The train was decorated with lights in every car, it was great!

Waiting anxiously to board the train

Us at our booth in the Melting Pot. What a great ambiance.

Just one of the courses. Truthfully worth every penny!

Tummy at 23.5 weeks.

The rest are pics of our apartment all decorated for Christmas. I can't believe how fast this month has already flown by.

Thanksgiving 2009

What a BLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUR! Things have been go-go-go since Nov 20th. We had our ultrasound on that day and it was such a neat experience. The ultra-sound tech did a great job not revealing any parts to us as we didn't want to know the gender of the baby until we were up in Calgary with family and friends. I had made and blue tag that said boy and a pink tag that said girl and the ultrasound tech put them in the box and sealed it shut. We made a poster that included the name, their guess of a girl or boy and their bid. basically how it worked is that once the gender was revealed if you guessed correctly then your bid would be returned to you and if you were wrong the $ went towards the baby. We had a 2:1 guess for a boy and so when it was deteremined that we were having a little girl we got to keep quite a bit. In fact, we got over $100. that is pretty good considering it was just for fun! Both Mike and I were shocked, as our video shows. For some reason we both thought we were having a little boy. I don't know if it was based on Mike's side of the family having mostly boys or what but we were shocked!!!

The rest of the time up in Calgary was hanging out! We celebrated Thanksgiving for Mike by having a roast beast dinner as he is not the biggest turkey fan, plus we will have turkey at Christmas. I wanted to learn so i helped my mom in the kitchen. Everything turned out delicious, but we had a tough time with the Yorkshire puddings. Either way it was yum in our tums! Unfortunately it was a busy time for Lanny cause it was her good friend Sarah's wedding so she was gone for most of it! We missed her, but she had a great time doing all that wedding party stuff! The time went by quick and for Mike, he had a Bio-Chem test monday morning at 8am so he was studying in the car both directions and at home here and then. Christmas break will be much better for him, there won't be anything hanging over his head. It will be a true break!

So for anyone who is around us enough you know that Mike has been working on the dental school application for about 1 year now and on dec 1st, which is today the schools finally let us know if we have been accepted to not! so in the dental school application world, things are buzzing with nerves and excitement! Some schools start letting their applicants know at midnight on Dec 1st, so last night Mike got an email at 9:45pm (it was an eastern school, so really 11:45pm) saying he was accepted. So that means we are definately going to dental school! We will be moving right after graduation in May!!! The school we were accepted to last night was University of Indiana, in Indianapolis, Indiana. This morning Mike got another acceptance to Case in Cleveland Ohio and another this afternoon to Western University in LA, and really it has just begun so we will hopefully here back from a few more schools. Either way...we are GOING TO DENTAL SCHOOL!!! This has been a long 3.5 almost 4year road for Mike and he has worked hard to get here! Now he has to finish this semester and 1 more at BSU and then he has 4 more years just for a GP, but who knows, he might specialize which would be at least 2 more years. So there is light at the end of the tunnel, but it is dim. YEAH MIKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you sure are going to take great care of your "girls." thanks for all your hard work.

Thats really all for us right now. We have 17 days until we are off for the holidays and boy am I excited! The time is going to fly by! Here are some pics!

Because this is for our posterity, I have to let all our kids and future nieces and nefews, this is what your Grandad did after every meal to make sure he was not wasting a thing. He is so adorable.

The poster with everyones gender guesses! She was out numbered 2:1, poor little girl!

The headband says "Padre" but we have since decided that he is going to be called Papa and my mom is going to be called...

Mema, instead of Madre as "Papa & Mema" are more grandparenty than Padre & Madre

Halloween and Stuff

So this is Mike and I have been recruited once again to write a blog post. I would like to begin by mentioning that the music to this post has been provided entirely by the music of Waynes World 1 and 2, in tribute to our costumes. So as you may have guessed if you were not previously aware, Eth and I were Wayne and Garth for Halloween this year. We went to a party and actually won funniest costume. At work Ethney was also Garth along with one of her coworkers who was Wayne. So what else can I say about life right now. We find out what we are having next week, then we get a week off of school and work for Thanksgiving, and lastly in our next few weeks of awesomeness, on December 1st we hopefully will be accepted to dental school and be able to start figuring out where we will spend the next four years. Ethney is finally starting to show, and actually looks pregnant, so hopefully people will stop giving her wierd looks. Other than that I got nothing for you folks and need to go play some hoops.

Wayne & Garth - What a fun and might I add, comfy costume!

Wayne with his guitar and Garth with his drumsticks - oh the memories

Jack was a Jack-O-Latern and might I add, so adorable!

Wayne, Garth, YMCA Pirate, House Wife, Rainbow Brite

RS Presidency - witch, dead Indian, Garth and Dracula's Bride

At work as Garth with Wayne (Becca) - Our patients loved it!!!

Party On

These next 6 weeeks have SOOOO much going on!!! Of course there is halloween and I can't wait to post pics of our great costumes! We better win our ward costume contest!
Then on Nov 20 we find out what our little one is, but we don't really find out. We will have 2 tags, "It's A Boy" & "It's A Girl", we will have the ultra-sound tech put the appropriate tag in a box. Then we will wait another week to go up to Calgary for American Thanksgiving. This is what we are going to do...Anyone who wants to make a guess as to what we are having, gets to put in a bet (min tooney entry), then after everyone guesses and the truth is revealed, everyone that guessed correctly gets their bet back and everyone who is wrong, the remaining $ goes to a new outfit for the little one. I know it may be a bit much, but even Mike and I get to guess. I have heard so many moms say they have an instinct that it is one or the other. I have absolutely NO IDEA??? I hope this doesn't make me a bad mom. The good thing is we have a name for either a girl or a boy. Mike and I are so excited for this stage in life.
Then just one week after we get back to Boise and Dec 1st rolls around we find out about dental school and after all the interviews if we are accepted and where!!! So to say the least, there is tonnes going on in the next 6 weeks. How fun it will be!
I am still not showing much, but I will start posting at 20 weeks so I can see how I grow. I have been great, no sickness or throwing up. Just tired and food aversions. We'll see if that stays the same. So far I enjoy being pregnant!

Mike is in Arizona & Las Vegas this week for 2 more interviews and then he is pretty sure he is going to cancel his interview in Boston, as he is burned out. I am amazed at how well Mike is able to get good grades and be on the road almost every week, missing several classes. He is a trooper, but is anxious to find out the verdict, as am I.

Haircuts and Killers

So Eth wanted me to update the blog so everyone gets to see what we've been up to lately from my point of view. I will start by stating that Eth got a new haircut, and it looks great, but other than that I don't feel qualified to give any news on what she actually did to it. I believe she said something about more layers and it is obviously a different color. So other than that what have we been up to lately. We did go and see the Killers a few weeks ago and the show was awesome, I think we made a wise decision taking that over the ward talent show. My brother Steve and his wife (Tiki) came up and stayed with us and went to the show. They too are pregnant so the girls had a good time talking about little babies and such. So those are the big things we've been doing, I am keeping busy with the interview thing. I was in Indianapolis this past weekend, I am off to Buffalo, New York this cokming weekend. I then get a week off and then I am off to Phoenix and Las Vegas. Ethney is going up to Calgary this week to do some Scentsy stuff and visit with family. Ethney gets to do the trip with G-Ma L, which she is quite excited about! She is coming down and then driving up with her. I'm also going to throw up some pictures of Jeff, Andy and I rocking out on Guitar Hero, good stuff, the girls were somewhere talking about, you guessed it, babies again. Other than that life is pretty normal, we are staying busy and are excited to find out what we are having next month and where we will be moving to in the Spring, the first of December.

How Pathetic, It Has Almost Been a Month!

Well to catch up, but at the same time not bore you, here is what we have been up to in a nutshell...Mike has been to 2 more dental school interviews, one at Midwestern in Arizona and one at Western in California. He still has 5 more interviews to go to, which is definately costing a small fortune, but you do what you've got to do. Our first doctors appointment for the baby was on Sept 4th, the internal ultrasound was a bit of a shocker, but there was so much detail. You could see the heart beating at 170bpm and it's little arms and legs just moving all over the place. the pics we have a pretty neat. Our doctor seems to be a really great guy, we both really like him. Our next appointment is on Oct 2, then in November is when we find out what we are having. Everyone thinks it is a girl, to be honest I have no intuition one way or the other. I am happy with either, of course. I have had more aversions than anything and it is quite wierd. I am hungry and can't find anything that sounds good. Wierd! I can't eat any salsa, which use to be a favorite and otherwise I am loving fruit! Let's see...we saw BSU beat Oregon in their game opener which was very critical for them this season and lots of fun! Sheila had us over so we could view it on a BIG screen and there was lots of delicious food! Thanks Sheila. For Labour Day long weekend we went up to the Gorge Amphitheater in Washington where we got to see Dave Matthews. We went up with our good friends, Jeff and Laura Johnson. It was a great concert! There was a bit too much rain so we were soggy all night, but at least it cleared up and it wasn't too cold. For those of you that haven't been, it is amazing! Our new blog pic is of us at the Gorge, the view, ambiance and the stage are just so captivating. We loved it! This weekend we are going to see The Killers here in Boise, one of Mike's favorites (by the way they are not near as hard as the name sounds). We've done a few BBQ's and church activities as usual. We celebrated our 3rd Anniversary on the 9th, well we actually celebrated it on the 12 because Mike was out of town on the 9th. We had a busy day of festivals, bubble tea, and a BSU game. I joined SCENTSY, which means I am a new consultant and its going great! I am trying to build up my clientale and get good experience before the little one comes so hopefully that can be a source of income that will allow me to stay home more and only have to work 1 day/week. With a hubby in school for another 5 years, we still need to have me bringing in some income to help keep the loans down. Not only that but it is lots of fun! If anyone wants to host a party, I'd be happy to put it on for you. As the host its great to get the FREE stuff and discounts. :) I think thats all. We have lots happening in the next couple of months. We will keep things up to date. Pics of the concert, the game and just hanging out!

Look Closely...I had to take a picture

Mike in his garbage bag, protecting his already soaking body from the rain.

Laura and I covering up to protect our lovely hair from the rain.

Captain Rabit as Mike called him, was dancing and entertaining us all concert long. It was great!

This is Mike's dad's flight jacket, I told him to put his aviators on and "put out the vibe" like Tom Cruise did in Top Gun. He did a mighty fine job.

Peggy holding Bryson with dorky Alan in the background.

Jeff and Laura

Bree, Bryson and Me chillin at Alan and Peg's, this is when she brought over the barefoot and pregnant kit and spoiled me rotten. What a great friend Bree is. I love ya hun!

The BSU game we went to was a white out, meaning all the fans were to wear white!

A guy showed up in a head-to-toe blue spandex body suit with orange undies. It was hilarious!

Our Story as of Late!

I can't believe that it is almost September??? I can't believe we are about to celebrate our 3rd Anniversary, where has time gone??? We have had a very busy couple of weeks. Mike has started back at school, we have another year here in Boise and then we are off...where we do not know. Since our last post, when Mike had the 4 interviews, we are now up to 6 interviews and are very excited about each and everyone. Just to let you know how competative things are, when Mike interviewed in Cleveland, Ohio, they told him they got 3300 applicants, they only offered 300 interviews and of those 300 they only take 78 individuals. YIKERS!!! So just because we have interviews doesn't guarantee us in. Either way it really increases our chances. Plus (I know I am biased) but Mike will do great at the interviews!!! He has one in Arizona this week and one in California next week and then he doesn't have any yet until October. The 2 latest schools are Western in Pomona, CA and Boston University in Boston. He is a busy man trying to juggle school and interviews and a wife and well thats enough. As for me, I am still working at All Seasons 3 days.wk, but every now and then I get an extra day or two, which is great! Things are going well. Here are some pics of what we have been up to as of late!

Hanging Out in Bo-Do, just walking around enjoying the weather!
Getting pumped for our Bronco Nation Season, they are ranked really well this year. Go Broncos...Buck those Ducks!!!
Mike back in the grind with Bio Chem, Head and Neck Anatomy, Micro & Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy. Oh and of course his Nano-Particle Research for the Chem department. Talk about busy!
