Easter with an Arm back

3 weeks came and went relatively quickly considering that our little Vienna was in a full arm cast, which made daily activities just a little more tricky with more maintenance required. She was a good sport throughout though. It came off a few days before Easter weekend which was a nice treat.
Vienna was born on Good Friday last year so technically this was her second Easter (it came a lot later in the year this time). It has been neat this Spring (not being pregnant) to notice all the signs of Spring and new life. Vienna was born at this very time of new life. It has brought a whole new meaning to my Savior's resurrection and the significance of His life. I'm grateful to have this knowledge in my life.
On Good Friday, after future Dr. Davis cleaned my teeth (he did great and despite being in a completely different clinic) he ROCKED! we went to Lakeview cemetery (which is huge and beautiful) to see Daffodil Hill. It was rainy but from the car it was just as pretty.
Saturday we went down to Columbus to the temple, with some families from our ward and participated in a series of sealings. It was special to be there with Mike. Columbus has so much character and is much more modern than Cleveland. It has Pita Pit, Tim Hortons and an amazing Japanese supermarket called Tensuke. It made me so happy walking in the door because it was the closest thing to actually being in Japan that I have experienced EVER! They even had a little restaurant attached to it so of course we had to partake and oh, we wanted everything on the menu. It was a tough pick, but with going to the temple monthly we should be able to try everything at least once over these next 3 years. We also bought a few Japanese food necessities. It was a long but wonderful day!
Our Home teacher invited us to their house for a delicious ham dinner after church with another family. Before that we went to Eggshell Land (see pics and details below) and my sweet little primary children sang Beautiful Savior in sacrament meeting with the ward choir while doing sign language and they did so good.
Oh and just a side note...Vienna is taking a few steps on her own so keep posted for the official WALK.
The Easter Bunny was good to us
Treats even for Vienna

Read the sign closely, there are 40 180 eggs, this is the 53rd year, the theme is UP. They are REAL EGGS!!!
These signs are hard to read but they say where the eggs come from and thanks to the Fire department for the overhead pictures etc.
Honestly astounding...feed the eyes!

Time for Vienna's first try of a chocolate cvoered marshmallow egg. (PS - see the little sheep, Bree and I made those a few years back at our General Conference craft time, miss you Bree and all our fun crafts)

She did pretty good, but didn't even finish 1

These little girls were so good with Vienna the whole time, it was so relaxing for me.

A Broken Arm and 1yrs old, All at the Same Time

Well our little lady is such a big girl now...She is an entire year!
It has been a year of much learning for our little lady, but also for us as parents and as a couple.
Vienna is such a smiley, content baby. We really couldn't ask for anything more. She sleeps well, eats pretty well and communicates so well. She interacts, points, makes noises and gestures. It's amazing how much she can tell me without words. I sure love this lady. She loves being around other kids and is so observant.
Mike is such a great Dad and always makes time for her, which is so sweet to see. I know this is important to him and he is great with her. She definitely knows who her Daddy is and when she hears a noise she looks around waiting for Daddy, because normally the garage door opens and then the actual door. Its so adorable.

I guess an important factor in the history of her little life is that 4 days before she turned 1, she broke her poor little left arm. It was just a simple fall from a standing position. She just landed funny on her arm. I saw from mid-fall to the floor and instantly I thought...ooh, that didn't look good. After comforting her and watching closely to see how she moved her arm I thought for a minute it would be fine, but I quickly realized she wasn't fully calming down. I began palpating her arm, her shoulder was fine but as I moved to her elbow joint she let out a definite pain cry. It also felt strange. I called her pediatrician's office and asked what to do, they said to come in asap. I did just that. It was a rough 15min drive, she was crying with pain. Once we were there, the doctor thought it might be a dislocated elbow, so she tried twice to pop it back into place, but only to have Vienna howl in more pain. From that point on she said I am going to have to send you for an x-ray, which was about 10mins away. Luckily, Mike had professionals day and was able to join us at this point. What a relief. This all began at 9:30am, I was putting on my make-up when it happened, so needless to say I only had one eye lined, no other eye make-up or anything else really. There was also no breakfast in my tummy. So we waited for a while at radiology, once the x-rays were taken, we called our pediatrician who was trying to call the radiologist to get a conclusion. Unfortunately it was 12:15pm and they were at lunch, so our Dr sent us home to wait for a reading of the x-ray. I was shocked to be sent home with a baby with a broken arm. This meant another car seat attempt...the third time since the event. I hated that part. So we went on our way :(
Shortly after we were on our way, Dr. Wilbur (our pediatrician) gave us a call letting us know that it was in fact broken and that we could be seen by an orthopedic surgeon at 3:00pm, it was now 12:45pm. Luckily Vienna fell asleep on the way home, poor thing, she was pooped from crying and being in pain.
We got some food, fed Vienna and dropped off Mikes car to get the brakes fixed on our way. Another car seat adventure. We didn't get called back until 3:35pm and after looking at the x-ray, having a chat with the orthopedic surgeon, it was decided she didn't need it set so they cast it and by 4pm she was ready to go home. The colors were selective so she got a neon pink one. We had to go pick up her prescription for pain and finally got home around 6pm. My presidency members were so thoughtful and made us dinner, which meant so much considering the emotional, busy day we all had.
The adjustment hasn't been bad, despite the first day and second night. She is adapting quite well, considering the full arm cast that is bigger than she is.

We had a little birthday party for her, it was so fun, she did quite well with the cupcake; pretty dainty about the whole thing, but she still made a pretty good mess. Thanks to all of those that joined us.

This is outside of radiology waiting to hear from the radiologist. If you look closely you can see the swelling gimped arm. Look at that grimace...poor thing

Finally home after a VERY long day, getting my PJ's on and happy to finally have my cast on. (little did she know)

My first official meal with a cast on. It was tough, but I was happy to be eating.

All prepped for my first sponge bath.

Making the most of it, even though there isn't much water.

Onto the CAKE...
Take 1...
Take 2...
The Final Product! (I was pretty impressed, considering I never bake)

Grandma Peggy spoiling me rotten...literally (And Grandpa too, he just doesn't know it)

All the love I got from Great Grandma Betty, Great Grandma McAllister, Mema and Papa, Mom and Dad, my friend Macy, Auntie Tiki and Uncle Steve and Grandma and Grandpa Davis. Oh I am so loved, even being so far away. Thanks Everyone!!!

Getting ready for my cupcake...Macy is playing with me
MMmmmmmmm
Messy

Oh ice cream, the best part for sure.

Hanging with Daddy after everyone was gone.

This was an after thought the next morning (Mom's are never in any pics, they are always the ones taking them)

Playing upstairs with my little walker.

Such a happy little lady.(Notice how my cast says "Happy Birthday' and has drawings. Oh how cool am I?)

This is a picture from March, but its so cute I had to add it

And another, with my attire around her neck.
