December 2009, just the beginning!

Since December 1st life has truly whirled right by...
So out of the acceptances we recieved, and even though we are on waitlists at other schools we have decided,or Mike has decided that Cleveland, Ohio (Case Western Reserve University). That is where we are headed. Wowsers!!! I don't know a thing about that area, but that is what makes it such an adventure! We will stay in Boise until Mike graduates in May and then we will head up to Calgary for about 2 months where I will work as much as possible with a new little baby, that is nursing, I might add while Mike is a stat at home dad. This will go on until mid-July which is when we will then make the trek to Ohio. We are excited and are looking into buying a home...but we will see. We have decided that the military will not work out for us but in a way we are excited about this, although it will mean a TON!!! and I mean a TON of debt. Thats ok, you just do what you gotta do.

So the New Year will consist of getting my dental hygiene license in Ohio, research about buying vs. renting and all of that good stuff! Of course we still have 9 more days until Christmas and 16 until it is 2010 and so we are just going to just sit back, relax and enjoy! Mike gets to have a whole month off of school which we are blessed to have him working at the school over that time doing research and being paid for it!!! Then he might get a job on campus for his last semester. Every little bit helps!

Just to catch up on the past 2 weeks briefly...to celebrate our acceptance, as this has been a work in progress for 3.5 years now, we went to the Melting Pot. It is a fondue restaurant for those that don't know. Now it is a bit pricy but we had been planning this for over a year, so we didn't care. We enjoyed and savoured every last morsal. I have a pic to show just how delish it was. That same weekend Mike took me on a surprise date. It on a real, old schol train ride up in Horseshoe bend that goes to Cascade. It was marvelous. We were on the polar express that took us up to Santa's village and it was decorated very well. There were carolers and hot chocolate, cookies and lots of cute kids. It was a great time to just hang out and be kids. I loved it. Thanks so much hun! To top it all off we had our ward Christmas party right after and the best part was watching the kids start crying as we put them on Santa's knee. It was great!

The rest of December has been spent wrapping gifts, doing last minute Christmas shopping and getting ready for our journey up to Calgs! We are excited to be with family over the holiday season.

Here are some pics...

Jack on Santa's knee, crying with a candy cane in his mouth! too funny!

The train was decorated with lights in every car, it was great!

Waiting anxiously to board the train

Us at our booth in the Melting Pot. What a great ambiance.

Just one of the courses. Truthfully worth every penny!

Tummy at 23.5 weeks.

The rest are pics of our apartment all decorated for Christmas. I can't believe how fast this month has already flown by.

Thanksgiving 2009

What a BLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUR! Things have been go-go-go since Nov 20th. We had our ultrasound on that day and it was such a neat experience. The ultra-sound tech did a great job not revealing any parts to us as we didn't want to know the gender of the baby until we were up in Calgary with family and friends. I had made and blue tag that said boy and a pink tag that said girl and the ultrasound tech put them in the box and sealed it shut. We made a poster that included the name, their guess of a girl or boy and their bid. basically how it worked is that once the gender was revealed if you guessed correctly then your bid would be returned to you and if you were wrong the $ went towards the baby. We had a 2:1 guess for a boy and so when it was deteremined that we were having a little girl we got to keep quite a bit. In fact, we got over $100. that is pretty good considering it was just for fun! Both Mike and I were shocked, as our video shows. For some reason we both thought we were having a little boy. I don't know if it was based on Mike's side of the family having mostly boys or what but we were shocked!!!

The rest of the time up in Calgary was hanging out! We celebrated Thanksgiving for Mike by having a roast beast dinner as he is not the biggest turkey fan, plus we will have turkey at Christmas. I wanted to learn so i helped my mom in the kitchen. Everything turned out delicious, but we had a tough time with the Yorkshire puddings. Either way it was yum in our tums! Unfortunately it was a busy time for Lanny cause it was her good friend Sarah's wedding so she was gone for most of it! We missed her, but she had a great time doing all that wedding party stuff! The time went by quick and for Mike, he had a Bio-Chem test monday morning at 8am so he was studying in the car both directions and at home here and then. Christmas break will be much better for him, there won't be anything hanging over his head. It will be a true break!

So for anyone who is around us enough you know that Mike has been working on the dental school application for about 1 year now and on dec 1st, which is today the schools finally let us know if we have been accepted to not! so in the dental school application world, things are buzzing with nerves and excitement! Some schools start letting their applicants know at midnight on Dec 1st, so last night Mike got an email at 9:45pm (it was an eastern school, so really 11:45pm) saying he was accepted. So that means we are definately going to dental school! We will be moving right after graduation in May!!! The school we were accepted to last night was University of Indiana, in Indianapolis, Indiana. This morning Mike got another acceptance to Case in Cleveland Ohio and another this afternoon to Western University in LA, and really it has just begun so we will hopefully here back from a few more schools. Either way...we are GOING TO DENTAL SCHOOL!!! This has been a long 3.5 almost 4year road for Mike and he has worked hard to get here! Now he has to finish this semester and 1 more at BSU and then he has 4 more years just for a GP, but who knows, he might specialize which would be at least 2 more years. So there is light at the end of the tunnel, but it is dim. YEAH MIKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you sure are going to take great care of your "girls." thanks for all your hard work.

Thats really all for us right now. We have 17 days until we are off for the holidays and boy am I excited! The time is going to fly by! Here are some pics!

Because this is for our posterity, I have to let all our kids and future nieces and nefews, this is what your Grandad did after every meal to make sure he was not wasting a thing. He is so adorable.

The poster with everyones gender guesses! She was out numbered 2:1, poor little girl!

The headband says "Padre" but we have since decided that he is going to be called Papa and my mom is going to be called...

Mema, instead of Madre as "Papa & Mema" are more grandparenty than Padre & Madre
